This historical fiction story was the New York Times outstanding children's book of 1980.
The main characters are Little Willy, his dog Searchlight, his grandfather, and their enemy
Stone Fox. Little Willy is a ten year old boy and his dog is ten years old too.
In this story grandfather wants to give up life, but then Little Willy finds out that grandfather ows $500 dollars. So,
Little Willy enters a dog sled race and the prize is $500 dollars. Little Willy tries his best to win. Little Willy was
a little nervous because he only has one dog and Stone Fox has never lost a race in his life. Little Willy really needs
to win because he needs the $500 dollars so he can pay the tax collectors so the farm won't get taken away.
I gave this book a rating of 5 stars out of 5 stars, because this book is one of the best books I have ever read. I think
this book can be read aloud and be read by yourself. It is a great book I think kids and adults should read this great
book called Stone Fox . It is a great opportunity to see if Little Willy wins the race. Read the book to find out.
